Bunch OCR: Image to Text ("Bunch OCR", "the App") is developed by Krepel Studio ("we", "us", or "our").
This Privacy Policy explains how information is accessed, processed, stored, used, and shared when you use Bunch OCR.
By using the App, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Bunch OCR is an Android application designed to extract text from user-selected images and PDF documents.
Supported input formats may include:
JPG / JPEG;
PNG;
HEIC / HEIF;
PDF.
Recognized text may be exported as:
TXT;
DOCX;
Markdown (.md).
The App is designed primarily to process documents locally on your Android device.
Krepel Studio does not operate a remote OCR processing service and does not intentionally upload your selected documents, images, PDF contents, recognized text, or generated output files to Krepel Studio servers.
Bunch OCR accesses files only when you explicitly select files or folders using Android's system file and folder selection interfaces.
Depending on the action you choose, the App may receive permission to:
read selected images;
read selected PDF documents;
access supported files inside a folder you explicitly select;
create output files;
write generated TXT, DOCX, or Markdown files to a destination selected by you.
The App is designed to use Android's Storage Access Framework and user-granted URI permissions.
Bunch OCR is not designed to require unrestricted access to all files on your device.
Where supported by Android, the App may retain permission to access a file or folder that you previously selected so that processing can continue or the selected output location can remain available.
The App does not intentionally scan or inspect unrelated files outside locations to which you explicitly grant access.
OCR processing is designed to occur locally on your device.
During processing, Bunch OCR may temporarily:
decode an image;
render an individual PDF page;
hold image data in device memory;
process text recognition data;
create temporary output data;
write recognized text to an output file.
The App is designed to process files and PDF pages sequentially rather than loading an entire batch into memory at once.
When an item has been processed, temporary resources associated with that item are intended to be released before processing the next item.
Your document contents and OCR results are not intentionally used by Krepel Studio for:
advertising profiling;
marketing databases;
behavioral profiling;
sale to third parties;
training artificial intelligence models.
Bunch OCR may continue an OCR operation after you:
minimize the App;
switch to another application;
turn off or lock the screen.
When you explicitly start an OCR operation, the App may use an Android Foreground Service to allow the active processing operation to continue.
The foreground service is used only for an OCR operation initiated by you.
The App does not intentionally start document-processing operations automatically without a user action.
Background processing does not cause your selected documents or OCR results to be uploaded to Krepel Studio.
The foreground service processes the same locally selected files that you requested the App to process.
Bunch OCR may declare Android permissions required to operate a foreground service, including:
FOREGROUND_SERVICE;
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC.
These permissions allow Android to manage an active, user-initiated file-processing operation as a foreground service.
They do not give Bunch OCR unrestricted access to your personal files or other private data.
The App uses the dataSync foreground service category for local file processing and related import/export operations.
While an OCR operation is running in the background, Bunch OCR may display an ongoing system notification.
The notification may show information such as:
that text recognition is in progress;
processing progress;
number of processed items;
total number of items;
percentage completed;
current file name;
current PDF page;
processing status.
The notification may also provide actions such as:
returning to the active processing screen;
cancelling the active OCR operation.
Information displayed in the notification is generated and displayed locally on your device.
Depending on your Android notification and lock-screen privacy settings, notification content may potentially be visible while the device is locked.
You can control notification visibility through Android system settings.
On Android 13 and later, Bunch OCR may request the Android:
POST_NOTIFICATIONS
permission.
This permission is used to display notifications related to active OCR processing and other relevant application events.
The permission is requested in connection with functionality that may require visible processing progress.
If you decline notification permission:
OCR functionality is not intentionally blocked solely because of that decision;
processing may continue where permitted by Android;
processing progress remains available inside the App;
Android may limit how foreground-service notifications are presented in the notification drawer.
You can change notification permission at any time through Android system settings.
During an active OCR operation, Bunch OCR may use Android's WAKE_LOCK permission where technically necessary.
A partial wake lock may temporarily keep the device processor available while an active user-initiated OCR operation is being processed, including when the screen is turned off.
A wake lock:
does not give the App access to your personal information;
does not provide access to your files beyond permissions you already granted;
is not used for tracking;
is not used for advertising profiling.
The App is designed to hold a wake lock only while necessary for active processing and to release it when the operation finishes, is cancelled, fails, or is stopped by Android.
To maintain a consistent processing experience when the App is minimized, recreated, or reopened, Bunch OCR may locally store limited information about an active or recently completed processing session.
This information may include:
a locally generated operation identifier;
references to files or folders selected by you;
output folder reference;
output format;
output mode;
current queue position;
processed item count;
failed item count;
processing progress;
completion status.
The App is not designed to store full image bitmaps, complete PDF page images, or other unnecessary large temporary processing objects as persistent batch state.
Batch state is used to maintain processing continuity and display accurate progress and results.
If one selected file or PDF page cannot be processed, Bunch OCR may continue processing the remaining items.
Information about failed items may be stored locally as part of the processing result.
Successfully generated output files may remain available even if another item fails or the overall batch is interrupted.
If you cancel processing or Android stops a foreground operation because of system restrictions, already completed output files may remain in the output location selected by you.
Generated TXT, DOCX, and Markdown files are saved to a storage location selected by you.
These files remain under your control.
They remain available until you:
delete them;
move them;
remove the applicable storage location;
or a third-party storage provider removes them according to its own rules.
If you select a cloud-backed storage provider through Android's system file picker, that provider may upload, synchronize, or otherwise process your files according to its own privacy policy.
Bunch OCR does not control third-party storage providers selected by you.
The App may temporarily create or maintain:
decoded image data;
rendered PDF pages;
OCR intermediate data;
document-generation data;
temporary output files;
processing buffers.
Temporary processing data is used only as necessary to perform the requested operation.
The App is designed to release or remove temporary processing resources when they are no longer required.
Final output files remain in the storage location selected by you.
Bunch OCR may store preferences locally on your device, including:
selected language;
selected theme;
output preferences;
selected output mode;
selected output format;
selected output location;
application settings;
Pro entitlement state;
information about whether the initial unrestricted Free batch has been used.
This information is used to provide App functionality and remember your preferences.
Bunch OCR does not require a Krepel Studio user account.
Bunch OCR may provide both Free and Pro functionality.
The App may locally store information required to determine applicable usage limits or Pro access.
For example, the App may record whether a Free user has already used the initial unrestricted batch-processing opportunity.
This information is used only to enforce App functionality and entitlement rules.
Bunch OCR may offer a Pro version through Google Play Billing.
Payments are processed by Google Play.
Krepel Studio does not directly receive or process your:
payment card number;
bank account details;
full payment credentials.
The App may receive billing-related information made available by Google Play, including:
product identifier;
purchase status;
purchase token;
