There are some third-party sites which accumulate and summarise information (some of which may not be available via the API). At the moment none I know have the specific functionality for finding all dissolved companies but you could have a look at:

We do not have any bulk products that contain dissolved companies, sorry.

I know you have been contacted, but I just wanted to post a general answer here for other users who may be looking for the same product.

The Free Company Data Product is a downloadable data snapshot containing basic company data of live companies on the register. This snapshot is provided as ZIP files containing data in CSV format and is split into multiple files for ease of downloading.

I know there are also accounts and PSC data files on separate pages but just wanted to confirm that this is the recommended way to ingest bulk data and that these would provide all the information available via the api.

The companies bulk data product is a CSV of all the currently (or recently) active companies registered in the UK. It contains basic company information and an up-to-date version is released each month. See more information on the dedicated page for companies bulk data.

The PSC bulk data product is in JSON format and contains a full list of PSCs provided to Companies House. It is updated every day. For more details about the information included in the data, see the page for psc bulk product.

A history of company accounts filed electronically is available as a bulk product. Records are only available for accounts filed electronically since 2008, and does not include all companies. The files are a mixture of XML and iXBRL. They are available in a few different size chunks, such as yearly, monthly and daily for different perdiods of time.

The officers bulk file is not publicly available, but can be requested by contacting Companies House. This can be done via the developer forum, as seen in this thread: -we-bulk-download-officer-director-data/1225/194.

Once they have contacted you regarding the bulk file, you will be emailed a link to a cloud storage bucket to download the files, and they can also provide a data specification in Microsoft Word format, which is necessary for understanding the fixed width data format.

This service can be used by anyone who wants to incorporate a private limited company limited by shares, adopting model articles; and meeting the requirements of the Companies Act 2006. The Web Incorporation Service is not suitable for bulk use, i.e. those customers regularly filing large numbers of company incorporations. For bulk filing, the Software Filing service is more suitable.

A registered company is a legal entity with a separate identity from those who own or operate it. Most companies are limited liability companies which mean the liability of the members is limited by shares or by guarantee.

However the registered office need not be a place where the company carries on its day-to-day business. For example, some companies use their accountant's address as their registered office. However, the directors are responsible for ensuring their registered office is effective in terms of dealing with all notices, letters and reminders sent by Companies House or other organisations, businesses or individuals. For example, you could receive a legal demand from a creditor and you will need to respond promptly to avoid further action.

For England and Wales companies, the address provided can either be in England or Wales. For Welsh companies, the address provided must be in Wales. For companies registered in Scotland or Northern Ireland, the address provided must be in Scotland or Northern Ireland respectively.

A Director is a person or a corporate entity appointed by the company members (shareholders) to run the company on their behalf. All companies must have at least one 'person director' and all directors must be at least 16 years of age. Where a director is a corporate entity (a company or firm), these are usually referred to as 'Corporate Director'.

A Secretary is a person or corporate entity appointed by the directors to be the chief administrator of the company. It is optional to have a secretary for private companies. Where a secretary is corporate entity (a company or firm), these are usually referred to as 'Corporate Secretary'.

Private limited companies must have at least one person director. When you have entered your company name and address, you will be asked to enter the details of your first director as part of the 'Officers' section. You can then choose to appoint multiple officers using the appropriate buttons on the Officers Summary screen, or simply proceed to the next section.

You may also have officers that are companies or firms, and for these you will need to supply the company or firm name, its registered office address, details of the legal form of the company, where it is registered and if applicable its registration number.

An EEA company is one to which the First Company Law Directive (68/151/EEC) applies. For EEA companies, you are required to give details of the register where the company file is kept (including the relevant state), plus the register (central register, commercial register, company register) as mentioned in Article 3 of the Directive

Private companies limited by shares must have at least one subscriber. When you have entered your company name, address, and share capital; you will be asked to enter the details of your first subscriber as part of the 'Subscribers' section. You can then choose to appoint more subscribers using the appropriate buttons on the 'Initial Shareholdings' summary screen, or simply proceed to the next section.

If one or more PSC has section 790ZG protection in place you can't incorporate the company online. You can only incorporate the company using a dedicated version of the paper form IN01, which you can request from secureforms@companiehouse.gov.uk.

On incorporation a company can adopt model articles, model articles with amendments or bespoke articles. Many companies find it convenient to rely on model articles as a default position when incorporating. This Web Incorporation Service is only currently available for companies that wish to adopt model articles in their entirety, and it will automatically apply the model articles for your company type. Please view the model articles available on our website to check if these are suitable for your company.

All companies have to comply with trading and disclosure requirements. For example, you must ensure the company's full name (including the name ending as appropriate, e.g. "limited" or "ltd" etc) appears on all its correspondence and business documentation. In addition, the company number, place of registration and registered office address must appear on its business letters and order forms (including those sent by email) and on its websites. You must also have a sign with the company's full name at its registered office and, generally, at all its premises.

In this free Companies House bulk query tool, accountants can track filing requirements for all their clients by date last filed and also set tolerance levels for reminders for when filings are next due.

Despite the availability of our new services, there remained the demand for legacy bulk products which provide a snapshot of register data, including new data added to the register. We noticed that when these bulk products were output, a peak of traffic would hit CHS shortly afterwards, taking the data items included in the bulk product and other associated data.

With lots of data constantly changing on the register, this was the best avenue users had to identify the new data items. The downside of this method was that changes were difficult to identify in the large volumes of bulk data, plus the time lag meant the information was often superseded by new data that users were unaware of.

This service will be hugely beneficial to users who rely on our data, especially those who request the data in bulk. The streaming API will also be an alternative method for those users who currently trawl CHS for new data, and this will reduce the load on the web service.

The team at Companies House have done this project the right way. They went through an iterative design process, with discover, alpha and beta phases. They did lots of user research (in their own in-house lab). They iterated in response to feedback (for example, enabling legislative changes to ensure that dates of birth stored as part of the dataset can't be misused).

I must say that I am very impressed. For anyone interested in a few specific companies this is a great improvement, though the companies that made money reselling documents will probably not agree! That does raise an interesting point though. Part of the justification for open data is that businesses can take the data and add value, thereby boosting the economy. In a sense what we have here is something that cuts out the middle person, thereby reducing a business opportunity. The hope must be that what the end users are able to do, or continue to do but at reduced cost, will more than compensate for that.

I suspect that if the data were made available as a free bulk download, the existing resellers of bulk information would continue to dominate onward information provision of bulk data, as replication or improvement of the front ends that they offer would be a substantial task for any prospective rival.

The IDBR, as used by ONS, remains unavailable as far as I know. The reason given used to be that some of the data for the smallest companies were effectively personal data and perhaps there is concern about floods of junk mail. But is there a case for releasing basic data for businesses above a certain size which is where most of the interest would lie?

Step 2 - Enter the Company Registration Number or the Company Name in the Name of Company field and select Search Companies House button. TaxCalc will search the Public Register for the related companies. 2351a5e196
