We often meet new people or interesting new places and objects. Sometimes we find it difficult to explain about the appearance, shape, and other characteristics of people, place, or objects. Using a descriptive text, we can describe them easily.
Descriptive texts are texts written to describe an object, person, place, event, or idea. Descriptive texts focus on the characteristic features of a particular thing. Descriptive texts can stand alone but are often part of other texts, for example, information reports.
Descriptive texts are usually organized to include an introduction to the subject of the description, characteristic features of the subject (physical appearance, qualities, habitual behaviour), and significant attributes. In this unit, you will learn about descriptive texts.
