Supporting the High School Building Project
A feasibility study is conducted by achitects and engineers to examine our facilities and our needs. During the Feasibility Study, the District and its team collaborate with the MSBA to generate an initial space summary based on the District’s educational program, document existing conditions, establish design parameters, develop and evaluate preliminary and final alternatives, and recommend the most cost effective and educationally appropriate solution to the MSBA Board of Directors. This study will be presented to the resident of the towns for discussion and approval.
Due the the current condtions of the school building, Blackstone Millville Regional High School is one of ten schools approved by MSBA for a supported building project. If approved, MSBA will reimbuse the town approximately 59% of the construction costs.
The feasibility study is the first step in the Builing Project process and requires a vote by residents of Blackstone and Millville.
In order to conduct the feasibilty study, both Millville and Blackstone will need to vote to approve the feasibilty study during a November Town Meeting. Residents need to be present at the meeting to vote.
The district will need to complete major repairs at the high school. In 2019, the estimate for needed repairs was $60 million dollars. These repairs would not be subject to the 59% reimbursement by MSBA.
