PRIVACY POLICY
BuildCalc: Material Planner - Effective: June 26, 2026 - Last updated: June 26, 2026
The short version. BuildCalc is built to work entirely on your device. We do not run servers, we do not have user accounts, and we do not collect, sell, or track your personal data. Your calculations and projects stay on your iPhone and iPad, and (if you choose) sync privately through your own Apple iCloud account.
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
BuildCalc: Material Planner (the "App") is published by Serhii Tykhonenko ("we," "us," the "Developer"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the BuildCalc iOS and iPadOS app distributed through the Apple App Store. It does not cover Apple's own services (the App Store, iCloud, In-App Purchases), which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
2. Information that stays on your device
BuildCalc is an offline-first tool. The following information is created and stored locally on your device and is used only to make the App work for you:
- Your calculations and their inputs (dimensions, quantities, unit choices, waste percentages);
- Saved projects, budgets, checklists and shopping lists;
- Material prices you enter, favorites, recent items and calculation history;
- App settings and preferences (units, theme, language).
This information never leaves your device except through the actions you take yourself (see "iCloud sync" and "Sharing and export" below).
3. iCloud sync (optional, your own Apple account)
If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud Drive/Key-Value storage is enabled, the App may sync your projects, lists, history and preferences across your own Apple devices using Apple's iCloud. This transfer happens entirely within your personal Apple account and Apple's encrypted infrastructure. We have no servers involved, no access to this data, and no ability to read it. You can turn iCloud off for BuildCalc at any time in your device Settings, and you can remove BuildCalc data from iCloud through iOS.
4. Information we do not collect
We do not collect, receive, store on our systems, or transmit to ourselves any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number or account credentials;
- Your precise or approximate location;
- Your contacts, photos or files;
- Analytics, usage statistics, crash telemetry or behavioral profiles;
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or any cross-app/website tracking identifiers.
BuildCalc contains no third-party advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no social-media trackers. Consistent with this, our App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected."
5. Camera (AR features)
Some features (AR tape measure and placing a finished project at real size) use your device camera. The camera feed is processed live and on-device to render measurements and 3D previews. BuildCalc does not take, save, upload or transmit any photos or video, and it does not use the camera for any purpose other than these AR features. You control camera access in your device Settings.
6. How information is used
Information on your device is used only to provide the App's features: to calculate material quantities and estimates, show results and 3D/AR previews, keep your projects and shopping lists, remember prices and preferences, and schedule any reminders you set. All of this happens on your device.
7. Notifications
If you enable reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device. No notification content is sent to us or through any server. You can disable notifications at any time in device Settings.
8. Purchases and subscriptions
BuildCalc offers an optional "BuildCalc Pro" upgrade (auto-renewable subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase) through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple processes all payments; we never see or handle your payment card, billing address, or Apple ID. Apple provides us only with aggregated, anonymized sales and subscription reports that do not identify you.
9. Sharing, export and disclosure
You may choose to share or export your data yourself - for example, sharing a result, exporting a project estimate as a PDF, or sending a shopping list through your device's share sheet. These actions are entirely user-initiated and go wherever you direct them. Because we do not hold your data, we cannot disclose it to third parties. In the rare event we are legally compelled to produce information, we can only provide what we actually have, which does not include your on-device content.
10. Third-party services
The only third party routinely involved is Apple, which provides the App Store, In-App Purchases (StoreKit) and iCloud. The App uses no other third-party services, back ends, or data processors. If this ever changes, we will update this policy first and describe any new processor.
11. Children's privacy
BuildCalc is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because the App collects no personal data, there is no children's data for us to process, and we do not market to children.
12. Your privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA and similar)
Because your data lives on your own device (and, optionally, your own iCloud), you already have direct and complete control over it - you can view, edit, export or delete it at any time. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under the GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA or comparable laws, and we run no advertising. If you have questions about your rights, contact us using the details below.
13. Data retention and deletion
We retain nothing on your behalf. You control retention entirely: delete individual items or projects inside the App, reset the App's data, remove BuildCalc data from iCloud, or uninstall the App to remove its local data from that device. Uninstalling does not automatically remove data already synced to your iCloud; you can remove that separately in iOS Settings.
14. Security
Keeping data on your device (and within your encrypted iCloud account) substantially limits its exposure. Apple secures iCloud transmission and storage. You are responsible for the security of your device and Apple account - for example, using a passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, and keeping iOS up to date. No method of electronic storage is ever 100% secure, but the App is designed to minimize risk by design.
15. International users and data location
The App does not transfer your data across borders, because we do not receive it. Any syncing occurs within your own Apple iCloud account in the region Apple assigns to it. By using the App you understand that data handling occurs on your device and, optionally, through Apple's services.
16. Do Not Track and opt-out signals
Because BuildCalc performs no tracking, "Do Not Track" and similar browser/OS signals have no data to affect. Should our practices ever change, we will honor applicable opt-out signals as required.
17. Future changes to our data practices
If we ever introduce features that would change this policy - for example optional cloud accounts, analytics, or any form of advertising - we will update this document, describe the change clearly, and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before the new practice takes effect.
18. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this address. Material changes will be highlighted. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
