By downloading, installing, or using Bug Identifier ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the EEA) to use the App. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that you have consent from a parent or legal guardian.
Bug Identifier is an AI-powered insect identification assistant that helps users identify insects by allowing them to:
Capture or upload a photo of any insect
Receive AI-generated insect identification with detailed information
Access comprehensive insect details including scientific name, characteristics, and habitat
Save favorite identifications for future reference
Access identification history
View interesting insect facts and educational content
The App uses third-party AI services and image-processing technologies ("AI Engines") to process user inputs. Availability and quality depend on these providers and may vary. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without guarantee of uninterrupted operation.
Some features may require association with persistent device identifiers for tracking usage limits and subscription status. You are responsible for:
Maintaining security of your device
All activities occurring under your device
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access if abuse, compromise, or violations are suspected.
You agree to use the App only for lawful, personal purposes. You may not use the Service to:
Generate, upload, or share illegal, defamatory, hateful, harassing, or violent content
Upload images containing illegal, explicit, or harmful content
Process images you do not have rights to use
Infringe copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property rights
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract datasets, training data, or model weights
Bypass usage limits, paywalls, or access controls
Resell outputs as a standalone paid identification service or bulk dataset
Use the App for commercial pest control or entomology services without proper licensing
Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination.
You retain rights to the original insect photos you provide. JanoGroup LLC ("we," "us") and our licensors retain all rights to the App, software, interfaces, AI Engines, identification data, trademarks, and all other materials not provided by you.
Free-tier use (5 identifications per day) grants a limited, non-transferable, revocable license for personal, non-commercial use only. You may not distribute, publish, monetize, or incorporate outputs into commercial products.
Active paid plans grant a non-exclusive personal license to use generated identifications for:
Personal education and insect identification
Sharing with pest control professionals or entomologists for personal projects
Non-commercial presentations (attribution recommended)
Social media sharing for personal use
Not permitted:
Commercial resale of generated identifications
Creating identification services or paid offerings from outputs
Automated scraping or bulk export
Using outputs for commercial pest control or entomology business without proper licensing
AI output may include errors, misidentifications, or incomplete information. We make no warranties of accuracy, completeness, or reliability. Always consult with professional entomologists or pest control experts when dealing with potentially dangerous insects or making decisions based on identifications.
Third-party AI services power portions of the App. We are not liable for intellectual-property claims arising from their data, training methods, or outputs.

Usage Limits: Each identification consumes 1 from your monthly/daily limit.
Limit Replenishment:
Free users: Resets daily at midnight
Premium users: Resets monthly on subscription renewal date
No Rollover: Unused identifications do not roll over.
Trial Terms: The free trial converts to a paid subscription unless canceled before expiration.
Refunds: Payments are handled by the App Store; all charges are final except where required by law.
We may adjust pricing or usage limits to reflect service costs. Prices shown in-app or store listings prevail.
Generated identifications are machine-generated and may:
Misidentify similar-looking species
Fail on low-quality, blurry, or poorly-lit images
Provide incomplete or incorrect information
Not identify rare or exotic species accurately
Vary based on input image quality and insect positioning
Do not rely on outputs for:
Medical decisions regarding insect bites or stings
Determining if an insect is dangerous without expert consultation
Legal or regulatory pest control compliance
Scientific research or academic citations
Always consult qualified professionals when dealing with potentially dangerous insects or when accurate identification is critical.
Use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect, how it's processed, and your choices.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JANOGROUP LLC DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY.
IN NO EVENT WILL JANOGROUP LLC BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR REPUTATION, OR DAMAGES ARISING FROM MISIDENTIFICATION OF INSECTS. TOTAL LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU IN THE 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless JanoGroup LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors from any claims, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
Your use of the App or generated identifications
Content you submit
Violations of law or these Terms
Actions taken based on insect identifications without professional consultation
Any harm resulting from interactions with insects identified through the App
These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflicts of law. Disputes shall be resolved via binding arbitration under AAA Consumer Rules, held in Washington, DC or virtually, in English.
No class actions — claims must be brought individually.
You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days by emailing janogroupllc@gmail.com with subject line: "Arbitration Opt-Out". Opt-outs submit to courts in Washington, DC.
You may cancel subscriptions at any time via App Store settings. We may suspend or terminate access for violations or abuse. Upon termination, rights to use the App cease, though saved identifications remain subject to license restrictions. Data deletion follows the Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms periodically. Material updates will be communicated in-app or via release notes. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance.
These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and us. If a provision is deemed unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain valid. We may assign these Terms in a merger, acquisition, or sale. Failure to enforce any right is not a waiver.
