The Buffalo Community PTA Speaks for Every Child with One Voice
The Buffalo Community PTA was awarded 2025 Distinguished Unit Award by Western Region PTA in recognition of our work in the community.
Buffalo Community PTA, at a glance:
Every child possesses talents and skills.
•PTAs work to ensure schools are equipped to discover and showcase the abilities of every child
•Parents understands there is no such thing as the average child
•Parents understands that a child’s development is not linear, but has peaks and valleys—that’s how children learn and grow
A child’s potential is not known in advance.
•Potential is not based on genes, or parents, or neighborhoods
•But too often is influenced by parents’ educational levels and zip codes UNLESS the community works to build a strong community around every school and advocate loudly for every child
Every child is shaped by experiences.
•Positive experiences are what parent groups provide.
•Parent groups generate environments that foster cooperation, understanding, and love
•Parent groups influence relationships between parents, parents and administrators, and parents and teachers
Adversity faced by children influences their learning and behavior.
To overcome uncontrollable circumstances and thrive, children must have:
•Support from the community
•Loving, dependable, and trustworthy adults present in their lives
•Positive experiences
•Space to learn
