Memorial for Flaco
Time: April 14th 12:00 - 3:00 PM
Flaco, the Eurasian Eagle-Owl famous to New York City's Central Park, was an important and unique symbol of overcoming adversity and adjusting to your surroundings. He was an escapee of the Central Park Zoo and survived several attempts at recapture. However, in February, 2024, he collided with a building in Manhattan's Upper West Side. Up to 1 billion birds die each year in the United States due to window collisions. This problem can be easily fixed by including window decals or moving bird feeders away from windows. We will be having a small memorial for Flaco, and finding ways to save more birds from window collisions.
