What is Budget Bin?
This is a community-wide sale that is a cooperative effort between all of the PTA organizations in the Solon School District.
How does the sale work?
People throughout the community gather items and deliver them, on consignment to Budget Bin. The consignor establishes the prices and the PTA sells the items for them during the set Budget Bin sale days. We will have security on-site to watch for theft and to handle any problems.
Who gets the profits?
The person who consigns the items receives half the profits and the other half goes to the Lois Gazeley Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to Solon High School seniors and is administered by the PTA.
How do I get paid?
After the sale is over, all the tags from your sold items are totaled and a check is mailed to you a few weeks after the sale.
What can I sell or donate?
You can consign or donate clothing, toys, sporting goods, and home items in good condition. Please refrain from consigning or donating items with tears, stains, or missing parts, or items that are broken or very out of date. Such items will be removed from the sale.
What happens to the things that are not sold?
A consignor can retrieve their unsold items after Budget Bin’s consignment sale is closed. However, most choose to donate their goods that were not purchased. Previously-approved charities are invited to select unsold items that are needed by their organizations.
I don't want to consign, but is there any other way I can help?
YES! Budget Bin requires many, many volunteers from each school to make this sale work. We always need volunteers to guide the consignors and help them check in, assist shoppers, fluff and fold clothing, attractively arrange arrange items, as well as separate sold tags and other tasks.
I've never done this, do I need any experience?
Not a bit! All you need are items to sell or a desire to help raise money for much needed scholarships. If you have a few hours or more to help at the sale, that would be wonderful too! It’s a great way to meet and spend time with parents from the Solon Schools.
Are bathrooms available at the sale?
We are sorry to say there are no bathrooms at the school that are open to the public. This is for the safety of the students and employees.
Can children come to the sale?
Yes, children are welcome. Please keep an eye on children that come with you. It is a safety hazard for them to be alone. Do not allow them to ride on bikes or open toys. We want to make sure that the consignors' items stay in the condition in which they were brought here.
Is there on site parking?
Yes, you will be able to park in the school parking lot. We are reminding consignors and shoppers alike to please be courteous about parking. Double parking is a safety hazard and we would like to keep Budget Bin a safe and pleasant place to shop. Solon Police will ticket anyone who illegally parks their car.
