Grand Master Buddy Amato is a 10th Degree Black Belt in Go-Ju-Ryu Karate with 6 decades of experience in the Martial Arts. He holds additional black belts in Aikido, Judo, Jujitsu, Kobudo Weapons, Ishin Ryu, and Kardojitsu Ryu. Having innovated his own style of Karate, he is accredited as a Soke by the World Head of Family Sokeship Council. Amato's Go-Ju-Ryu is an internationally recognized style derived from classical training, full-contact fighting, and real world experience. Grand Master Amato has trained students of all ages in the way of Karate since 1972 and continues to pass on his extensive knowledge today.
Grand Master Amato is a pioneer of American youth Martial Arts education. He was the first in the Jersey Shore area to intstitue a curriculum specially designed for children. Subsequently he was the first in the area to promote a child to Black Belt.
In 1972 Grand Master Amato served as the personal body guard to the children of Lon Nol, The Cambodian Prime Minister and President of The Khmer Republic. In addition to protecting Lon Rith and Lon Dura, Grand Master Amato also instructed the brothers in Karate. Lon Rith would go on to lead the Khmer Republican Party in Cambodia.
Grand Master Amato is an inductee of 27 Martial Arts Halls of Fame. Renowned for his ability to break through over 2 feet of concrete with a single blow, he appeared in motion pictures and on television. His life story is printed in numerous martial arts publications including Black Belt Magazine, Karate Illustrated, and World Karate. He is the only Martial Artist ever to perform a half time show at Giants Stadium.
Over the years Grand Master Amato has used his Martial Arts training for the betterment of the community. He has raised tens of thousands of dollars for charity. On occassion he has used his abilities to directly protect people and animals from harm.
