Background

Pasinee Pula, a young woman from the Lahu ethnic group in Ban Luang, Mae Ai District, Chiang Mai, faced limited career opportunities after completing her basic education. In 2015, she received a scholarship for a 420-hour Older Person Caregiving Program, which provided her with essential skills in elderly care.

Career and Impact

Upon completing her training, Pasinee joined Buddy HomeCare Social Enterprise as a caregiver and has now been working with the organization for four years. Her primary role involves caring for older persons with hemiparesis (partial paralysis), working closely with their families to assist in their rehabilitation. Through her dedicated care, many of her patients have regained mobility with the help of assistive devices, significantly improving their independence and quality of life.

Beyond her formal job, Pasinee dedicates her free time and days off to visiting tribal older persons in her village, many of whom struggle with language barriers when communicating with doctors and nurses. Additionally, some cannot travel down from the mountainous areas to access healthcare services. She acts as a bridge between these older persons and the healthcare system, ensuring they receive the necessary medical attention.

Further Education and Future Aspirations

Recognizing her potential and dedication, Pasinee has recently received a scholarship to pursue a one-year Nursing Assistant Program, further advancing her career in healthcare. Her journey demonstrates how empowering underprivileged youth through education and employment opportunities can create a lasting impact, not only on their own lives but also on their communities.
