*A note about Buddhist practice and gun ownership. Some Louisville Buddhists prefer safety plans that do not include firearms; they may not personally own or use guns, or be ready to organize directly with people who carry. Meanwhile, other Louisville Buddhists join gun clubs and enjoy recreational shooting. Over half of Kentucky households (50-55%, depending on the survey) have guns, and our gun laws involve no community safety protections whatsover.
Gun safety training saves lives. With guns possible in almost every location we might go in Louisville, gun safety practices keep everyone safer. From this viewpoint, gun safety training is an upaya (skillful means).
