I am an environmental researcher and academic committed to advancing sustainability, geospatial science, and ecosystem resilience through rigorous research, field-based investigations, and institutional environmental leadership. My work integrates GIS, remote sensing, ecology, environmental monitoring, and sustainability governance to address complex environmental challenges in Sri Lanka and beyond.
I currently serve as a Project Assistant at the Centre for Sustainability Solutions (CSS), University of Kelaniya, where I contribute to university-wide sustainability strategy, policy development, reporting, and global ranking improvements. I have been a key contributor to major milestones such as the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking (National Rank #1, Global Rank 226 – 2023) and multiple national awards, including the Presidential Environment Awards.
My research portfolio spans wetland ecosystems, mangrove conservation, microplastic contamination, soil physicochemical analysis, rainfall climatology, hydrological modelling, and e-waste sustainability practices. I hold several Q1 and Q2 first-author publications, including in Ocean & Coastal Management and Environmental Nanotechnology, Monitoring & Management, and have contributed to Springer Nature book chapters.
My work philosophy is simple:
Use science, innovation, and sustainability leadership to create measurable impact.
First-author publications in Q1 journals (Impact Factor 5.4 & 8.87)
Multiple collaborative research projects across ecology, geoinformatics, and environmental health
Peer reviewer for international Scopus-indexed journals
Member of the Annual Sustainability Reports (2023 & 2024)
Chief Editor of the GreenInsight E-Magazine
Associate Editor of the Sri Lanka Journal of Sustainable Development Studies
Core member of sustainability policy committees, energy management teams, curriculum committees, and audit groups
Actively contributed to several major recognitions for the University of Kelaniya:
Presidential Environment Award – Gold Award (2025)
Presidential Environment Award – Merit Award (2025)
Presidential Environment Award – Merit Award (2024)
Institutional Environment Award (SLAAS, 2024)
These achievements were supported through my contributions in sustainability documentation, project coordination, data management, evidence preparation, and policy development.
