This will ensure all officials are on the same page across all levels / leagues / conferences.
3. Uniforms: The approved uniform is black and white jersey / black shoes / black shorts or pants / black fox 40 whistle. This uniform needs to be TUCKED in. Lets all do our part by looking the part while on the floor.
4. Professionalism: Our consortiums moto is: "Diffuse situations and DO NOT create them". You do not need to win every argument.
5. Arrival & Departure of games: Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your game. Be dressed and ready to go. If you are at the end of your games and there is not another official there to replace you, please stay there and message our office. Lets work together on being a strong team on and off the floor.
6. Mandatory Pre-game coaches / captains meeting: Before every game, make sure we take 1 minute to identify the head coach of each team and do a quick coaches / captions meeting. Build he relationships early and set the tone. DO NOT take shortcuts on this. It is very important to set the tone and standard from the beginning with these coaches and players. We are treating these games like they are regular season games. Remember.. This is an opportunity to work on something.
7. Reduce Physicality: Call fouls on obvious contact plays. Don't allow players to displace each other on rebounds. Clean up the post early. Get the hand checks / body bumping on the perimeter.
8. Technical Fouls & Ejections: Our office supports technical fouls and ejections. You are hired for judgment. Enforce the rules as written. If a coach is out of line, issue the technical foul. Remember to NOT escalate things. If you do NOT know what to say, remain silent. Racial slurs are automatic technical fouls. Call them and you will be supported.
9. Communicate Effectively: Speak clearly and calm. Use these games as opportunities to become an active listener and speak to deescalate things. Remember... Its not our job to win every argument. Sometimes we need to tell a coach what they need to hear to move on. Keep the art vs the science in mind.
