By train
Cardiff is easily accessible by rail from London, major UK airports and many towns and cities across the country. There are regular, direct services from London Paddington to Cardiff throughout the day. Frequent regional network trains also connect Cardiff with many towns and cities across the UK, including:
Bristol (50mins)
London (1hr 50 mins)
Birmingham (approx. 2hrs)
Southampton (2hrs 40mins)
Manchester (3hrs 30mins)
Liverpool (3hrs 45mins)
Please book a ticket either to Cardiff Central, which is the main station, or Cathays. It is a 25-30min walk from Cardiff Central to the Abacws Building (Senghennydd Road, Cardiff CF24 4AG) that will take you through the city centre. Cathays station is directly in front of the Mathematics department.
If you are arriving from Europe, then we recommend taking the Eurostar to London St Pancras International. From there you can take an underground line to London Paddington and a connecting train to Cardiff Central.
By bus
Cardiff is served by a number of local and national bus services – many of which drop passengers within easy walking distance of the university. There are connections via National Express, Megabus and Greyhound Express providing services to and from other major towns and cities.
The National Express busses stop at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, which is close to Bute Park and Cathedral Road, where some of the B&B's recommended in the section below are located.
By plane
The two nearest airports are Cardiff International Airport and Bristol Airport. Various airlines, including KLM, offer flights for example from Schiphol (Amsterdam) to Cardiff. Both airports are served by Shuttle Bus Services for the onwards journey:
