The following are books about the history of science and/or physics that have come up in class discussion. I've included this list just for fun -- no requirement to read or purchase these.
Kepler by Max Caspar
The History of Mechanics by René Dugas - A comprehensive (and frankly very dense) history of physics and natural philosophy from the ancient Greeks through the development of quantum mechanics.
Émilie du Châtelet by Judith Zinsser - Biography of 18th century aristocratic woman who helped popularize and develop key concepts in science and math.
Isaac Newton by James Gleick - Short biography of Isaac Newton
Accessory to War by Neil deGrasse Tyson - History of the unspoken connection between specifically astrophysics and the military ranging from the invention of the telescope to the manufacture of optical glass during the world wars to modern space telescope lens being handed down to NASA from the airforce.
Skunk Works by Ben Rich - personal memoir of working on the prototype B52 stealth bombers.
