Dr. Sitikantha Roy is an associate professor at the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi. Dr. Roy obtained PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Utah State University under the mentorship of Professor Wenbin Yu. His doctoral work was focused on design and analysis of smart slender structures using variational asymptotic method. Presently, Dr. Roy works in the fields of cell mechanics, biomechanics, soft robotics, soft actuator and sensors, biosignal processing among other areas.
Saswath is a Ph.D. research scholar in the Department of Applied Mechanics at IIT Delhi. His research interests lies in the domain of Soft Robotics. He primarily deals with the design and development of artificial muscle-like soft actuators. Before joining IIT, he has done research on flow mechanics around the bluff body. He loves to play badminton and do sketching in his spare time.
Abhilash is Ph.D. research scholar in the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi. His research interests include Brain Tissue Mechanics, Mechanical Characterization of Brain Tissue and its damage due to Surgical Interventions. Before joining, he has done his masters from IIT Mandi where he has worked on the multiscale modelling of the cortical bone. He loves to play badminton and computer games in his free time.
Umesh Gautam, born in Bareilly, has completed his master's in Applied Mechanics at IIT Delhi. During masters studies, he worked on FE simulation of deep brain surgeries. In July 2017, he joined IIT Delhi as Project Associate and worked on development of stiffness tuneable and ultrasound compatible prostate phantom for training in prostate biopsies. In July 2019, he joined as Ph.D. scholar and will be working on mechanical testing and modeling of brain tissues.
Sujas is a dotoral candidate in the Applied Mechanics Department at IIT Delhi. Sujas primarily works in the field of musculoskeletal biomechanics. He loves sports, physics and also is a film buff. Sujas is currently working on dynamics of human movement and muscle mechanics.
Rajnish is a Ph.D. research scholar at the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi in July 2020. Before that, he has completed his masters from the same department. His research includes Biomechanics, Modelling, and Simulation of human motion and its application in soft robotics, orthopedic implants, etc. He is simultaneously working on the JATC project titled ''Wearable soft robotics for upper limb muscle power augmentation with BMI interface'' sponsored by DRDO. He enjoys reading and writing poems (Shayari), playing badminton, and pencil sketching.
Amar is a Ph.D. Scholar in the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi. He has completed his Master's in Design of Mechanical Equipment from BIT Mesra where he worked on the Deformation Behaviour of Cell-Membrane. His research interests include Biomechanics, Computational Material Science, Rail-Wheel interaction/Failure of Rails, etc. During his Bachelor's, he served as an NCC Cadet (Corporal) for two years. He's a sports/fitness enthusiast, loves reading on nutrition and food science, playing football, martial arts, and dancing.
Sourabh Puranik is an MSR student in Applied Mechanics Department at IIT Delhi. He enjoys reading, writing, and reciting poems, He also enjoys painting and meeting new peoples. The idea of helping peoples drives him to pursue his career in research. He is currently working on Brain Tissue Testing and Characterization. After completion of his Masters at IIT Delhi, he wants to pursue a doctorate in the Brain Mechanics area.
Debjit Hore is an MSR student in the Applied Mechanics department of IIT Delhi. He graduated with a B.Tech. degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Durgapur in 2018. His current research, revolves around soft robots, rehabilitation devices and biomimetic actuation mechanism, something he has been involved in since his B.Tech. He also takes an interest in reading novels, and watching anime.
Udayan is a mechatronics engineer having done his masters in mechatronics engineering from VIT University Vellore. He has worked 2.5 years in IIT Patna as a project staff on the "Design and Development of Buoyancy Control Underwater Robot". Currently, he is working on a Non-invasive, cuffless blood pressure measurement device. His area of interest is mechatronics, robotics, Automation, mechanical design, software development and troubleshooting of electronics components.
Dr. Jena obtained his doctorate degree (specialisation in biomechanics and human motion analysis) from Biomedical Engineering Department, NIT Rourkela. His doctoral research involved the design and analysis of an assistive device for the lower limb using 3D motion analysis and finite element analysis. He is presently working on the development of a soft exosuit to aid and augment upper limb motion. His hobbies include outdoor sports activities. He hopes that one day his research will be useful in improving the quality and standard of living of individuals with locomotor pathologies.
