Body Stress Release (or BSR) is a complementary health technique suitable for everyone from infants to the elderly – we all need it to assist the body to restore and maintain optimal health and maximum efficiency

What is body stress?

Although some stress is positive as it increases our natural resilience and promotes healthy growth; prolonged or intense stress – be it:

physical stress: such as a fall, knock, twist, or even just poor posture, babies after a stressful birth or challenging pregnancy;

emotional stress: such as work stress, moving house, divorce, exam stress or bullying; or

chemical stress: such as pollutants, viruses, ingested or inhaled chemicals;

may result in an overload of stress on the body. This means tension might not be released through normal means and as a result the stress becomes locked into the physical structures of the body. You may experience this in the form of pain, tingling, numbness, fatigue or cramps and spasms depending on how the body is “splinting” the area in an attempt to protect it from further injury. These symptoms may appear immediately or may only present themselves after many years.

Without adequate time to heal, the situation may be exacerbated, causing additional stress to the body. BSR is a gentle, non-invasive technique that stimulates the body’s own healing process and BSR together with adequate rest stimulates the body’s natural capability for self-healing by activating it to release stress which has accumulated in the body.

NOTE: Body Stress Release is not a diagnosis or treatment of any condition or disease. It is concerned only with locating and releasing stored tension, so that the body is assisted in its in-built ability to maintain and heal itself“. -Bodystressrelease.com

What are the benefits of BSR?

Because BSR is a holistic approach for the whole body, it should result in a general feeling of well-being. The client may feel more relaxed, have improved digestion and sleep, may find they have greater mobility and improved posture, or may have relief from pain, tingling, numbness, or spasms. Some people find they feel energized after a BSR session. It is important to remember that each person is an individual with unique needs and their experience of BSR is unique. The same person may have different results after each session

How does it work?

After a thorough history is taken, the client will lay fully clothed on the BSR couch. I, the BSR practitioner, will use gentle pressure tests on specific structures of the body, applying pressure in various directions and using the body’s own bio-feedback mechanisms to identify areas of “locked-in” tension. I will then apply a gentle impulse using my finger or thumb in a specific direction in order to send a signal to the brain which will initiate the body’s self-healing capability. We do not use machines, massage, pressure points or forceful manipulation. Body Stress Release is gentle, practical and logical.

How many sessions will I need?

An initial commitment of 3 sessions is required in order to commence the healing process. Depending on the results of these three sessions, the practitioner can then suggest increments for further sessions. Bearing in mind that each individual will respond differently, no promises or guarantees can be made – you may require more than three sessions to experience the desired results
