Dr. Mark Sansom

Mark Sansom has a B.A. in Biochemistry and DPhil in Molecular Biophysics, both from University of Oxford. Following a postdoctoral fellowship and a junior faculty position at the University of Nottingham, he returned to the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford, where he is the David Phillips Professor of Molecular Biophysics. Mark’s research interests are in the computational biophysics of membrane proteins and their interactions. Two current areas of research are: (i) interactions of lipids with membrane proteins; and (ii) water in ion channels and nanopores.
