Dr. Indranil Banerjee

Dr. Indranil Banerjee received his M.Tech. in Biological Sciences and Bioengineering from IIT Kanpur in 2007. He completed his M.Tech. dissertation in the laboratory of Prof. S. Ganesh. He then moved to the Swiss federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), and joined the laboratory of Prof. Ari Helenius for his Ph.D. Upon receiving his Ph.D. in 2011, he was awarded the Novartis Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship to conduct his postdoctoral research in the lab of Prof. Botond Roska at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI Basel). After completion of his postdoctoral research, he joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, IISER Mohali, in 2017. The focus of Dr. Banerjee’s laboratory is to understand the mechanisms underlying host cell infection processes of medically-important viruses including influenza A virus, SARS-CoV-2, and dengue, and identify host-targeting antivirals to develop novel therapeutic interventions.
