Once you register as a Scout in Troop 6 your information will be transferred to Troop 6's Scoutbook. Every week you will get an email reminder of meetings and upcoming events. Scoutbook should always be checked for upcoming dates and events offered by the Troop. Scouts must sign up on Scoutbook for all events they will be attending. This is especially important for: Campouts, merit badge classes, and service projects. Scouts do not need to sign up for meetings. Signing up is not only how you RSVP, but it is how the troop tracks your camping, hiking, merit badges earned, and service hours.
ALWAYS register for events, except meetings: Service projects, camping, summer camp, etc. or scouts may not get credit for attendance; Parents also must register for any campouts and service projects they will be attending.
We highly recommend downloading the Scoutbook App for your convenience.
We use the "Remind" app for text communication. You can download the app in the Google Play Store or Apple Store .
To join, use class code: @fh4c2e
Parents should join as "parent" role and scouts use the "student" role. Please do NOT register as a "teacher" role.
Scouts wear their Class A (also called a Field Uniform) to many events, such as meetings, flag ceremonies, and events at summer cap. Wearing the same uniform as their peers gives scouts a sense of identity and comradarie with their troop and instills in them the values of scouting.
Scouts should have a Class A uniform. Everything you need can be purchased online at scoutshop.org. Class A uniforms consist of Scout shirt, shorts, belt, socks. No hat or kerchief is needed. We have a troop boonie hat that scouts will receive the first time to go to summer camp. The Scout shirt your son received as a Weebelo is perfect for Boy Scouts. You will need to remove certain patches for Boy Scouts, and you may want to also add the Arrow of Light patch to the shirt.
Class B uniforms are worn at campouts, service projects, merit badge classes, etc. This consists of a Troop 6 T-shirt (available for $10 from the Troop) and Scout shorts. Scout socks are required whenever Scout shorts are worn.
While at the Scout Shop purchase the Scout Handbook. The spiral-bound version is a little more expensive but worth it. You may also want to purchase a zippered book cover as well. This book will last his entire Scout career, so you want it to be protected. He must bring it to every Troop meeting.

Every Monday night at 7pm at Prince of Peace (3641 N. 56th St., Phoenix AZ 85018). One Monday per month is for PLC meeting (patrol leaders only)
Scouts wear their Class A uniforms to all troop meetings (not for PLC meetings)
Meetings are run by the Scouts. The Senior Patrol Leader (SPL) is a Scout who is elected every six months. There are approx. 8-9 patrols within the Troop. Each patrol elects its leaders (patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, quartermaster, and scribe) every six months as well. You can learn more about leadership positions for both scouts and adults, here.
Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend, especially for new families, to learn more about what Scouting entails. Drop-offs are okay, but please be here by the end of the meeting, usually by 9pm.
Once a month is a PLC (Patrol Leader Committee) & Committee Meeting. This is when the leadership of the troop meets. These meetings are for the Scout Patrol Leaders of each Patrol. If the Patrol Leader is unavailable, the Assistant Patrol Leader must attend in his place. Parents are encouraged to attend Committee Meetings after PLC.
Scout books must be brought to every meeting and kept up-to-date.
During our Troop Meetings there will be Patrol Breakouts.
During these weekly breakouts your Scout should be filling out the backs of their books and have it signed by an adult leader in the troop. Service, Hiking, Camping, etc. should be logged, with dates as they are completed. It’s very important for your Scout to keep his book up-to-date.
When a Scout does complete something, he should present his book to the Patrol Advisor for that patrol, or another adult leader in the troop. Parents cannot sign off on a scout's book.
The work is discussed between the Advisor and the Scout and the Advisor will then sign and date the item(s). If the Patrol Advisor for his Patrol is not available he can bring his book to any other Patrol Advisor, Assistant Scoutmaster or Scoutmaster for signatures. A parent cannot sign books.
Scouts keeping up with their books is essential to them moving forward within the program.
Each patrol has one or two adult advisors who act as a liaison between the families and the Troop. Advisors are responsible for coordinating the patrol, communication, to help every Scout feel welcome, and to sign off on Scout achievements. (see “Role of the Patrol Advisor” page in New Parent Handbook)
All adults are required to complete the Youth Protection Training online. It details the precautions that all people involved with Scouts should take to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience with Scouting. If you plan on being at any event with the scouts, such as a service project or day hike, you are required to complete Youth Protection Training.
As of 2023, any adult who attends an overnight event (campout or summer camp) is required to register with BSA. This is a national BSA requirement and cannot be waived. If you are unable to register, you will not be allowed to attend any overnight eventjs. Please see Brad Beebe, our charter representative, about registration if you have any questions.
Any adult who wishes to attend an overnight event is required to submit Medical Forms A and B every year. All adults who attend summer camp are also required to submit Medical Form C. This form requires a signature from a licensed physician.
