Spending a week at Rodney Scout Camp was the ultimate adventure. We spent our days living outdoors without phones, allowing us to tackle exciting challenges and merit badges like swimming, boating, shooting, climbing, and so much more. Many scouts brought their bikes, which was a lot of fun. New scouts did great and built  independence and bonds with the troop through games, campfires, and shared memories. It was a highly successful week: the troop earned Honor Troop, a perfect 100% clean camp score, 105 merit badges, and four rank advancements. The camp hosted seven first-year scouts and three Eagle scouts, while Mr. Kelly led from the front by completing the mile swim. Between the hard work, everyone enjoyed 30 care packages, 4 gallons of coffee, and a whopping 87 pints of ice cream (per Mr. Larison’s calculations).  The week ended with a campfire show in which members of our troop did an epic skit.

Hello, Scouts. This Sea Base experience was one that everyone will remember. First, we had to gear up with our dry and wet bags. We also had to do a grilling swim test through a marina that had dead fish heads in it. Then, we got on our canoes and embarked on our seven-mile journey through the Florida Keys. When we arrived, there was a lot of this hopefully non-toxic sargassum that could take away your shoes. We also had to drink water from plastic jerry cans. On the second day, we took a walk around the island, did team-building activities, and even learned some crazy lore about the island. At the end of the day, we went shark fishing, where Dennis fought an incredible shark that was at least ten feet long. On the third day, we went deep-sea fishing and caught our own dinner. We also went night snorkeling with flashlights around the reef. On the last day, we got on a boat and went snorkeling all day, and the captain let us jump off the boat, which everyone loved.
