Brushing your teeth anywhere else besides your bathroom can seem like a weird thing. It’s only natural, considering that 99% of the time you brush your teeth will be in your bathroom in the morning or in the evening (likely both).
It’s pretty much equivalent to the idea of sleeping overnight anywhere else besides your bedroom. Is it possible to sleep elsewhere? Of course it is. Is it normal? Nope.
One of the benefits to brushing your teeth elsewhere, though, is being able to brush more in a day and right after meals. Too often we don’t brush until right before bed. Then, with nothing to consume between that time and the morning, we’re brushing our teeth again for the morning. What you have to understand that’s a bit odd about this is we brush our teeth to rid them of food debris and clean them. Well, wouldn’t brushing after breakfast make more sense?
The problem is, not everyone grabs breakfast in the morning in this hustle and bustle society of ours, so there’s nothing to brush after. You just sorta brush before you leave for work, even if you haven’t eaten anything.
The solution to all of this, of course, is taking a travel toothbrush along with you to work. It’s amazing to be able to eat your lunch (whether at your desk or out with coworkers) and then be able to go brush your teeth right after. Travel brushes are compact, discreet, and typically have their own cases to avoid exposure to the air (see: germs), so they’re quite clean too so long as you keep good care of them.
The problem a lot of people find in taking their brushes to work, though, is toothpaste. Having a little travel toothpaste tube is nice, but the price of those is quite high compared to a bigger tube, when you take into account cents per ounce.
My solution to this? Leave a big tube of paste in the office bathroom (or in your desk) so that you always have some at work and all you need is your travel toothbrush handy.
And on another note, if you really want to take your dental game up a notch, you can even opt to bring along flossing picks as well. This makes it so that no food stays lodged in your teeth for any longer than an hour. While flossing once a day at home is fine, too, this just removes it even sooner if needed.
