Dew : forms from moisture in the air condensing on the plant’s surface due to cool temperatures at night. This happens to all surfaces, not just plants.
Guttation : is when the plant itself releases water droplets from special pores called hydathodes, usually at the edges of leaves. This happens when root pressure pushes excess water out, typically in humid conditions.
How to Tell the Difference:
✔ Dew is evenly spread on the leaf and other surfaces like grass, spiderwebs, or even cars.
✔ Guttation forms at the edges of leaves and often looks more like thick drops, sometimes containing minerals or sugars.
So, if the droplets are on everything, it's dew. If they’re only on the leaf edges and look a bit sticky, it’s guttation! 🌱💧
