Bus Riders of Roanoke Advocacy Group
We're here to advocate for better buses in the Roanoke Area -- for everyone!
What if buses came so frequently it was always easy and convenient?
What if buses went where you want them -- including Tanglewood, Hollins, and other destinations in Roanoke County?
What if buses ran nights and weekends, whenever you need them?
What if your bus stop was a protected, pleasant place to wait?
What if it was easy and clear how to use the system?
What if you could pay easily using modern technology?
VISION: We envision a bus system that is accessible, affordable, efficient, and equitable for everyone.
MISSION: To advocate and engage with decision makers to improve transit. To create a platform that amplifies the voices of bus riders.

Non-Smoking Area at Third Street Station
Previous advocacy efforts led to the creation of a non-smoking area at third street station! Now we need to keep up the effort to encourage Valley Metro leadership to enforce the use of this area.
Being able to expect a smoke free environment when accessing the bus improves access to the bus system for our community members who have breathing conditions. It also creates a more pleasant environment with cleaner air for other individuals to wait for their bus!
Want to join our advocacy efforts? See below for information on how to reach us as well as the schedule for our monthly public meetings!
We hold monthly meetings the first Thursday of every other month (even numbered months) in order to promote community amongst our members and to strategize our action steps. Join us! (5:30 pm, Downtown or Gainsboro Library - get in touch to catch up with us!)
