FIRST teams research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc., and are challenged to develop a solution. They also must design, build, and program a robot using coding, then compete on a playing field.
In my STEM class, students engage in a dynamic and hands-on learning experience centered around the design process. Throughout the semester course, they explore the overlap of creativity and technology by coding, working on basic CAD design, and creating multimedia projects. One of the class highlights is the opportunity for students to design and build their own rockets. This comprehensive approach not only enhances their problem-solving skills but also fosters critical thinking and collaboration, preparing them for future challenges in STEM fields.
