Welcome to the BrownieJam webpage. We are a classic rock duo specializing in familiar rock songs from the 1960s onward. Most of the tunes we cover are what we think are some of the best of 60s and 70s rock music and more (Of course, what's best is always open to debate, and rightly so). We think you'll enjoy our interpretations of many popular classic rock tunes. Thanks for checking us out!
Brad and Collin hail from California's Central Valley in the Modesto/Turlock area. We've been playing together as a father/son team since Spring 2022 and having a great time providing music for local breweries, clubs and farmers markets. Hope to see you at one of our performances soon!
Bios...
Brad Brown is a California native and long-standing resident of the south San Francisco Bay Area (and now a transplant to the Modesto area in California's Central Valley). Brad was born and grew up in Los Angeles CA, listening to and heavily influenced by the music of the 60s and 70s. He was very much drawn to the mainly American and British rock, blues/rock and acoustic styles emerging on FM radio in the LA area at that time, presenting an almost endless variety of fantastic, mind-blowing, original and experimental artists, songwriters and players. Relocating to the south San Francisco Bay Area in the mid-70s, where he lived for nearly 25 years, Brad concentrated on his family and education, and somewhat lost touch with his music/"performing” side. But he gradually did settle back into music performance by the mid-1990s.
Brad has been performing live acoustic music regularly at local venues as a solo act for over 25 years and has played off and on with a variety of cover groups during this time (see https://sites.google.com/site/joeyankeemusicalreview). Beginning 2000, he co-founded and played with San Francisco Bay area cover band, the Walker-Brown Band (later the FenderBenders). In addition to playing with his other primary acoustic/vocal ensemble, the 3Amigos from the late 90s through mid-2005, Brad has played with Peter Anderson of Silver Star (country/rock & blues), the Pajaro Creekdippers (country/rock), Neon Watson and the Fluorescents (original blues/rock), a folk duo with Peter Kesting/Walden 2 (banjo/guitar/vocals), and occasionally jamming with the Prairie Rose String Band (old-timey, folk, acoustic blues, Americana). A few years ago, he was also spending performance time with Bonnie and the Boys Out Back (old country/weekly senior dance) and the Handful (Hawaiian/old timey performance at convalescent homes).
At this time, Brad's really looking forward to performing with his son Collin at local venues, covering popular classic rock songs.
Collin Brown is a guitarist from the Modesto area of the California Central Valley. Growing up, he mostly listened to the Beatles and the Beach Boys, and by the end of high school, he began fully exploring the music of the 60s and 70s. Collin started playing guitar in high school, but it wasn't until he began to appreciate bands like the Who and Led Zeppelin that he gained a serious passion for playing rhythm and lead guitar. Since then, he has expanded his influences to include blues artists like Muddy Waters, Albert King, and Buddy Guy, as well as other genres such as folk/country, psychedelic rock, and 50's rock n roll.
Collin began performing with his dad, Brad, in early 2022 at private events, local farmers markets and breweries.
