Brown Financial Aid Guide

WElcome

This is a resource created by Students for Educational Equity, a group on Brown's campus dedicated to promoting educational equity and accessibility for students connected to and absent from the Brown community. We created this guide as a supplementary resource to help prospective college students navigate the financial aid application process. This resource is especially applicable to students who may be filing for financial aid alone and without assistance from parents/guardians. We know the financial aid application process can be confusing, so we made this website with the hopes of clearly and effectively explaining key terms and resources necessary to obtain financial assistance, such as the CSS Profile and FAFSA.

Outside of the specific forms, we also have differentiated pages for students with special family circumstances (ex. divorced/ separated parents), international students, and DACA/ Undocumented students. Our hope is that this resource will provide another layer of support for students while they navigate the college process, especially the admissions process for Brown.

Finally, we encourage you to revisit the site if you end up getting into Brown but do not believe the financial aid is sufficient for you to attend. We have outlined the financial aid appeal process and the necessary steps to properly advocate for your financial need and potentially increase your amount of aid.

We are consistently open to feedback on the structure of this website and factors you believe are missing from this resource. We encourage you to fill out the form below to help us improve this website for future users.
