Dr. Christian "C.D" Wells, Ph.D
Sheriff
Callsign: 1A-01
Department Overseer
Broward County Sheriff's Office
Hello County of Broward,
I am Christian "C.D." Wells, and I am your Sheriff. I am honored to serve as your Sheriff of BCSO! I was honorably appointed. your Sheriff o. March 20, 2025. I served as the Commissioner February 09, 2025, to March 10, 2025. I also served as the Colonel of the Broward County Sheriff's Office from January 15, 2025, to February 9, 2025. During my tenure as Colonel of BCSO, I have worked in many divisions and was assigned many tasks, including BCSO Investigations, Public Relations, and Overseer of Bureau Field Training, and Patrol Operations. As Sheriff, I will strive to develop a law enforcement department that provides professional protective services to the citizens of the County of Broward. I have served in many positions within law enforcement, both Supervisory & Administrative. I served as the Administrative Captain at Salt Lake City Police Department until I was promoted to Major of Patrol, and then Commander, and Assistant Chief of Police, and lastly, before I retired, I was promoted to Deputy Chief of Police. I served as the Captain, Assistant Chief of Patrol, Patrol Chief, and lastly Lieutenant Colonel of the Texas State Department of Public Safety. I formerly served as the Broward County Sheriff's Office as Colonel of the Patrol Operations. I resigned from that position in BCSO to take the role of serving as your Deputy Commissioner. I was promoted to Commissioner on March 10, 2025.
Before I entered the Law Enforcement Profession, I was an educator. I served in many positions in education as well, including 6th Grade Assistant Principal, in which I served 3 months, in before I was promoted to 7th Grade Assistant Principal at Luke Middle School. When that school term of 2020-2021 ended, I returned the following term of 2021-2022 as the Principal of Luke Middle School. I completed that school year out as Principal. As the School Year ended, I entered the election to run for Superintendent of Education for Luke Middle School. I won that election with the most votes, out of five (5) other opponents we were running for that same office. During my first three (3) months serving as the Superintendent of Education at Luke Middle School, I hired my Superintendent's Cabinet members and hired a new Principal for the Middle School. I helped create the most liked curriculum, and more educational servers currently still use my format and my curriculum. I am forever grateful. Six (6) months, going into my term as Superintendent of Education, I was working on plans to make it an Independent School District, and within six (6) additional months, I did just that with the help of my staff. I held the grand opening for Luke Independent School District on August 2, 2022. We had schools from Elementary to High School. After serving an additional term as Superintendent of Education at Luke Independent School District, I resigned the following year to serve as a Guidance Counselor at Woodland High School. I served in that position for a total of two 2 in a half months. I started to notice it wasn't my place. I then got the offer to become the Dean of Admissions at Southern University. I served there for a total of four (4) months. Finally, I was offered a position at Lumina University in where I currently serve as the 1st University President. I also teach all Criminal Justice courses, and the basic courses as well. I have served here currently for a total of 1 year and 1 month. (December 10, 2023).
On May 24th, 1999, I graduated from the Denver County Public School District. While In High School, I was Valedictorian of my senior class. I was also elected Class President and served in many student government organizations. My senior year of High School, I was taking college courses and working on my bachelor's degree. In June 30th of 2000, I received my bachelor's degree in Political Science from the Maxwell International School / College & University of Applied Sciences. After completing, I worked in education teaching grades K-7, all subjects. I returned to my educational journey in August of 2012, working on my Master's Degree in Criminal Justice / Law Enforcement Administration.
