Hello, my name is Rose Hofmann, and I am the founder of Brothers and sisters for T1D. When I was 9 years old, my family was told news that would forever change our lives: my brother, who was 11 at the time, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I knew that moment would be the last time things would ever be the same again. While he was in the hospital, I would listen to the doctors talking to my parents about his condition and learn about how to help him.
I decided to partner with the PADRE Foundation ( A nonprofit foundation located in Southern California that strives to help educate children and families about Type 1 diabetes in children and adolescents) for my Girl Scout Gold Award because there wasn't any support or educational materials for the siblings to inform them about T1D.
