Building each of us up one community at a time.
Brotherhood Farms is currently led by its founder, Amanda Kay, whose vision and lived experience shaped the mission of creating a trauma-informed, healing-centered community. Drawing from her own journey of resilience, she has taken the lead in building the foundation, programs, and partnerships that will guide the farm forward.
Brotherhood Farms was inspired by my family, especially my Grandpa Doyle, a proud Native American and military veteran who lived to 93. He taught me the importance of farming, caring for our children and elders, loyalty, and serving others. Along with the love and guidance of my entire family, his example shaped my vision for Brotherhood Farms: a place on this sacred land where all cultures are welcomed, communities unite, and healing, resilience, and purpose thrive. My grandmother Kathy, Grandpa Doyle's wife, was the glue that held them together—a true partner in both work and life. She lived by the principle of never leaving anyone behind, always supporting family and community. I spent hours venting and sharing with her, and later became her listening ear as Grandpa grew older. Kathy had a quiet strength, a love for art, and a career at PBS in Kansas City, where she brought stories and programs to life that inspired me as a child. Her devotion to family, love, and resilience shaped me profoundly, teaching me when to take a leap, when to fight the big fight, and how hardship can strengthen rather than hold you back.
At Brotherhood Farms, we seek team members who share our commitment to healing, community, and inclusion.
