Bros is a peer support app for men connecting with other men in their local area. Your privacy and safety are our top priorities. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.
**2. Information We Collect**
- **Account Information**: Name, age, bio, interests, profile picture (optional), and username.
- **Location Data**: Collected only when you explicitly choose to share it (for “Nearby” features or SOS alerts). Location sharing is off by default.
- **Usage Data**: SOS alerts, check-ins, goals, chat messages, and app usage statistics.
- **Device Information**: Basic technical data for push notifications and app functionality.
**3. How We Use Your Information**
- To connect you with nearby brothers and enable meaningful support.
- To send and manage SOS alerts and IGY6 responses.
- To power features like Goals, daily check-ins, and Resources.
- To maintain safety, moderation, and improve the app.
**4. Sharing Your Information**
- **SOS Alerts**: Your location and optional message are shared **only** with nearby verified users who have opted in to help.
- **Chats**: Messages are visible only to the participants.
- We do **not** sell your personal data.
- We may share anonymized or aggregated data for analytics.
- We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of users.
**5. Data Retention**
We retain your account information and usage data for as long as your account remains active.
- If you delete your account, we will permanently delete or anonymize your personal data within **30 days**, except where we are required by law to retain certain information for a longer period (for example, for legal or safety reasons).
- Location data is only stored while location sharing is enabled and is deleted when you turn it off or delete your account.
- Chat messages are retained until both parties delete them or the account is deleted.
**6. How to Request Deletion of Your Data**
You can request deletion of your data at any time in the following ways:
1. Open the Bros app → Go to **Profile** → Select **Delete Account**. This will permanently delete your account and associated personal data.
2. Email us chaioslabs@gmail.com with the subject line “Data Deletion Request” and include the email address associated with your account.
We will process your request within **30 days** and confirm when the deletion is complete.
**7. Your Choices & Controls**
- You can edit or delete your profile data at any time.
- Toggle location sharing, “Available to Help” status, and push notifications.
- Delete your account completely from the Profile settings.
**8. Data Security**
We use industry-standard security measures (Firebase security rules, encryption in transit, etc.) to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure.
**9. Important Disclaimers**
Bros provides **peer support only** and is **not** a substitute for professional mental health care, therapy, or emergency services.
In any crisis, immediately use the in-app emergency buttons (988 or 911) or contact local emergency services.
**10. Children’s Privacy**
Bros is intended for users 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18.
**11. Changes to This Policy**
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or email.

- Call 911/988 in real emergencies.
**5. Limitations & Disclaimers**
We are not liable for interactions between users. Use at your own risk.

We may remove violating content and suspend accounts for serious breaches.
