How can I get a library card online?

Library cards are free for residents of Brattleboro.

If you have a Google account, you can request a card by filling out this form.

If you do not have a Google account you can follow these instructions:

  • Download the PDF form HERE.

  • Open the PDF on your desktop or laptop computer. If you don’t have Adobe Acrobat you can download it here.

  • Fill all of the blue fields. To do this, click in each field and start typing.

  • Next, save the PDF so you can attach it to an email.

  • Email the form along with a picture of your ID and proof of residency to circulation@brookslibraryvt.org or courtney@brookslibrary.org.

  • Once we have received the form, we will send your library barcode number and password via email so you will be able to access your online library account and other digital media and request other materials for pickup.

  • When the library opens again, come on in and get the physical card by showing staff your ID!

If you are a non-resident, would like to get a card for your child, or need any help contact Courtney Carey at courtney@brookslibraryvt.org or (802) 254-5290 Ext. 1206.

Where do I find updates on the library?

Stay up-to-date with the latest news from the Library by subscribing to our newsletter and checking our website and Facebook page.

How can I borrow physical materials?

You may request materials by calling 802.254.5290 from 10:00am to 5:00pm Monday - Saturday or email circulation@brookslibraryvt.org. You will be notified when your order is ready and a specific pick up time will be arranged. Please allow one full business day for fulfillment. You can request up to 10 items at a time. Borrowing limits on DVDs, new books and audio will be observed.

How do I pick up my holds?

  1. After you have been notified and a pick up time has been arranged, come to the Main Street Entrance to retrieve your items.

  2. When you arrive at the library, call 802.254.5290 (if you do not have a cell phone knock on the door) and inform us of your name.

  3. Please bring a sign with your name so we may match the items with the borrower and step back 6 feet from the door.

  4. Staff will bring your items out and place them on the yellow table. Please wait until staff is back in the building, with the door closed, before picking up your order.

  5. We appreciate your cooperation, patience and understanding as we move through this new process.

How can I return items?

When bringing items back to us, please place them in the Big Blue Book Drop, immediately on the left when you enter the municipal lot (near where the police station used to be). We will only accept materials that have been returned at the blue book drop. There is a handy parking spot reserved for your car, and you can drop them in from the driver's side window. Walkers are also welcome! Thank you so very much for all of your kind words and support during this interesting time.

How can I reactivate my library card?

To reactivate your card email courtney@brookslibraryvt.org or call (802) 254-5290 Ext. 1206 and provide your name, current address, email and phone number and we will reactivate your card as quickly as we can.
