We make lye based goat milk soap by hand in our farm kitchen near Olean, Missouri. We raise Lamancha, Nubian, and Nigerian Dwarf goats and use their milk in the soap. We have shipped soap all over the United States.
We love our goats and enjoy keeping them happy and healthy. The goats were part of the inspiration for the soap, but inspiration also came from the desire for healthy, responsible, environmentally friendly products that we can trust.
Goat milk soap has been used for generations to help prevent and calm skin conditions. If you have naturally dry skin, this soap helps replenish the moisture. Some recipes can be used for general cleaning and doing dishes too.
We keep the soap as natural and local as possible. Our philosophy is “simpler ingredients make better, more responsible soap”. Most of the ingredients are directly from our farm or from the neighboring Mennonite community. We intend to keep the ingredients in the soap as environmentally responsible as possible. We stay away from using palm products in the soaps to do our part to protect rainforest from deforestation. Unlike industrial soap companies, we will never use petroleum products in our soap either.
In September 2019, Brookshire Hills Farm’s Simplicity Soap took second place in its class in the American Dairy Goat Association’s national goat milk soap competition. Simplicity Soap is the base soap for all the other scented hand and body soaps we sell.
