Brooke Stemme has published over a dozen short stories under her maiden name, Brooke Tiedt, since her first publication of The Crimson Ribbon in Canvas Literary Journal (2017). She has been published in Castabout Literature, Silver Pen Youth Imagination, Bright Flash Literary Magazine, Kzine, and others. Brooke is the author of two books: Imprinted (2024), a YA urban fantasy novel, and Stars Above (2020), a YA sci-fi novella. She has also been published in two collaborative short story anthologies in which she assisted other contributing authors in editing, layout, and organization. These two anthologies are: Among Other Worlds (2021) and All the Vacant Places (2022).
Her freelance work includes short story writing for a miniature wargaming company, icon design for a crane company's user interface, website design, and branding suites. She is looking to expand into editing fantasy stories, book cover design, and website design. She is open to pitches of new projects. Her specialties are listed above, but is willing to consider other projects. Brooke also has a certificate titled "SEO Training Masterclass 2023: Beginner to Advanced SEO" through Udemy, the course taught by Alex Grenadinik.
Currently, she works full time as an IT Project Coordinator at Black & Veatch. The highlights of her role include: managing technical documentation, certification as a Certified Scrum Product Owner and Scrum Master, primary quality reviewer for IT procedural documents for CMMC certification, contact for project communications between technical teams and IT leadership, and creating and revising project documentation for charters, user guides, and job aids among others. She has also been involved in COBIT / ITIL operational effectiveness initiatives.
Brooke Stemme graduated from Missouri S&T in December 2023 with a BS in English and Technical Communication, with an emphasis in Technical Communication. During that time, she took a variety of courses including web design, video editing, technical writing, and branding. She was a founding member of the Miner Writers' Guild and an editor for the Missouri S&T Southwinds Literary Magazine. Fall 2022-Spring 2023 she was also a Writing Center Consultant at the university. These experiences built foundational skills in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro, and HTML.
Over the summer of 2023, Brooke was an IT Governance and Communications Intern at Black & Veatch. She led a communication strategy plan to roll out a new internal software to over 400+ professionals globally. She produced and published 15+ videos for continued learning and onboarding of professionals through BLUEPRiNT, a learning management software.
