Broken Bits Mosaics

Upcycled mosaic art
As many of us did in the summer of 2020, I decided I needed to do something creative during quarantine. I had an old box of broken glass from a stained glass class I had taken over a decade before. I had moved this box of glass to 3 different houses! Working on my front porch, sitting at a folding table, I made my first mosaic, using an old window. After that, I was hooked. I have been making mosaics for family and friends ever since. I have since moved off my porch and into my own she-shed, which is my happy place. On any given afternoon or evening, you can find me in my shed, breaking glass, listening to true crime podcasts!
Every original mosaic is made using scrap glass and upcycled frames, which allows for some interesting options and often inspires the subject of the mosaic. I use either epoxy or grout to seal the glass.
This process gives me so much joy and I hope you will enjoy it too.

Hello and welcome from the mountains of Western NC!
Art has been a part of my life in various forms most of my life. I find it rewarding and exciting to transform a blank canvas, an old frame, a random scrap of glass, an old piece of furniture, or any knickknack into something new and original. As a lifelong learner, I continue to seek out new ways to express myself artistically and enjoy sharing ideas and learning from anyone and everyone. Exploring new ideas and approaching projects with a sense of curiosity is something I enjoy above all.
