The AUG A3 is the third major variant of the Steyr AUG assault rifle, first introduced in 2004. Changes from the preceding models included the addition of a Picatinny rail interface on the top of the receiver (replacing the iconic magnifying optic) and a bolt release. In the mid-2000s, the AUG A3 CQC was demonstrated by Steyr, featuring a fully railed handguard instead of the standard foregrip. However, the CQC's price and weight garnered little interest from buyers and the project was canceled.
One of the AUG A3's upsides is its high torso damage and long-range capability. To get the most out of the AUG, users will need to aim for the head or torso to conserve ammo and maximize damage. The gun performs well at most ranges, but close range can be challenging due to the fire rate and damage output.
The AUG has the second-lowest recoil in its class and delivers good overall damage. To improve the AUG's low ergonomics and handling performance, it's recommended to add grips. The AUG is best suited for slower-paced mid-range or long-range engagements due to its impressive ranged ballistics for a rifle.
