Restaurants & Pubs

The options for food and drink in London are (to a good approximation) infinite. Here are some tips that may be useful:

For Lunch on Campus

The Curve is the QMUL canteen and offers a good range of dishes including vegetarian and vegan options. It is probably the best place if you are a big group of hungry people who wants to be served in a finite time. It has some outdoor seating in the unlikely event of good weather, and also serves breakfast and early dinner.

The Ground Cafe is another good option which serves lighter meal options like sandwiches, quite good coffee (British approved, not Italian approved) and pastries.

The Student Union shop is the nearest place selling food to the Maths building, but is best left for emergencies (the coffee there is not approved by anyone).

Near campus

The best coffee in the area is (arguably) di Stefano's, who also do pastries (Italian approved), but it is quite small and so could struggle with larger groups. Other good coffee/light lunch options are The Coffee Room and International Comrades Coffee, and for pizzas the pizza room, all of which are nearer Mile End.

There are numerous other eating options between Stepney Green and Mile End, so feel free to explore!

Pubs

The best craft beers are at the Horn of Plenty just around the corner from Stepney Green tube, the Cherry towards Mile End, or the White Hart if you are heading towards Whitechapel. The Rusty Bike has only the standard beers but does have more space for large groups.

More upmarket cosy gastropubs include the Coburn , the Lord Tredegar and the Morgan Arms . The Victoria is also a very friendly pub and a great option for dinner if you like market fresh fish.

There is also a Weatherspoons (the Half Moon), if you must.
