Every child of my generation, and generations after my own, know who Ms Frizzle is. She wore crazy dresses. She had wild hair. She had a pet lizard and drove a magical school bus. And she was a superb educator. What child wouldn't wish to be a part of one of her unusual, interactive, and slightly dangerous adventures? I think back on watching The Magic School Bus, and I hope that I can be someone like that for my students: Exciting, interesting, caring, smart, a little crazy, and most of all - a teacher.
I am a teacher living and working in Long Island, New York. I am married to an amazing health and phys ed educator, and I have 2 dogs who are spoiled rotten, and 2 horses that believe they are retired...
I earned my Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from Alfred University, where I learned to create with many different mediums and through many different lenses. I love any opportunity to get crafty and creative, and try to keep making art on my own whenever I can.
While earning this degree, and immediately after, I worked in a school for children diagnosed with severe behavioral and intellectual disabilities. This work lead me to the realization of my career as a life skills teacher. Since earning my Masters Degree in Childhood and Special Education from Long Island University, I have had the privilege of teaching a wonderful mix of unique, challenging, and special children. I love the work I do and count myself lucky to have found this niche.
