Education is a particular passion of mine. I received my Masters in Multiple Subject Education from Azusa Pacific University and my credentials in California. Having started teaching in middle school eighteen years ago, I have had quite a career. It has been an honor to teach at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels for nearly a decade. Following the classroom, I was a part of the administrative team responsible for 6th-12th grades in a College Preparatory Private School. Currently, I am desiring to be involved at the community service level of education. It is my desire to serve as a member of the Osseo Area Schools, Minnesota, District 279 School Board.
In these unprecedented times, I believe my experience informs my unique perspective on the breadth and depth of education at all levels. The decisions we make in these times will impact our students for their lifetimes.
My expertise lies particularly in literacy and critical thinking, as a former language arts, literature and AP English teacher (literature and language/argumentation). When considering the educational gap I would like to help close, I know that literacy/reading comprehension is key to unlocking each child's future potential: learning, earning, and otherwise. Parent/guardian partnership with schools is critical for student success, and our teachers are our most valuable asset in educating them.
I have made it my goal as an education professional, and also as a parent, to teach students how to think, not what to think. It is so important to support our teachers with the class sizes and resources needed to achieve this goal.
District 279, I am passionate about our kids and their futures. It would be a great honor to partner with you to achieve their educational success.
