The Call: Youth Poets K-12

Submit up to three poems sharing your feelings and emotions over the last three years. This is an opportunity to spread your voice through pen & paper and can serve as an important part of learning how to express yourself.

Here are some prompts to kick-start your thought process.

• What have you seen? 

• How have you coped? 

• What impact has the period had on you, your community, and your health?

• What have you learned or reflected on most?

• How have you changed? 

Our editors will read all submissions from blind lists to select participants for the Bringing the Light series. 

Previously published poems are accepted

Submission Rules

Each submission should include a cover page that includes the following:

• • a title for each work you submit

  • your name as it will appear in print

  • your biography (in 100 words or less) 

  • your grade and age

  • your school name (this is optional)

Please note that selected poems will require parent/guardian approval before print. 

The closing date for submissions is August  15, 2022.
