Briland Hitaj is recognized for excellence and dedication in co-leading the data and metrics working group from the start of the ASCEND project in the IARPA ReSCIND program. He assembled a comprehensive overview of cyber and physio data as well as psychological measures that are collected in ASCEND. Briland also coordinated the development of early metrics for ASCEND.
Briland Hitaj demonstrated exceptional and inspirational scientific and team leadership in the development of the multidisciplinary DOLOS proposal to IARPA BENGAL, from initial ideas and teaming, submission of a whitepaper that was encouraged by the client, and all through submission of a strong proposal. He stepped up to lead a team of senior researchers from SRI's CSL and AIC and SRI's partner George Mason University in the challenging task of iterative collaborative development of novel ideas and approaches in the intersection of AI technology and psychology. Briland's leadership of this proposal demonstrates the best capabilities of SRI and why other world-class institutions want to partner with us.
Briland Hitaj went above and beyond his regular duties as a researcher, and helped SRI minimize its expenses, when he took on many on-site actions in the move-out and closing of the SRI Manhattan office. Briland worked long hours on site and managed the inventory of all of SRI's property in the 3,000 square foot office, oversaw the work by movers, coordinated with staff in other labs and divisions and corporate, handled shipping of equipment to other offices, and handled disposal of surplus items. This was all in addition to his regular work on research projects and proposals.
