The project features eight 610-watt bi-facial solar panels, with a total capacity of 4.88 KW, capable of capturing sunlight from both sides to increase energy output. These panels are complemented by a 12-unit, 100AH gel-type battery bank operating on a 48V system, ensuring consistent energy storage and availability during nighttime or cloudy conditions. A 6KW Deye hybrid inverter integrates the system, enabling smooth switching between solar energy and battery power.
Installed with a durable photovoltaic (PV) frame and stand, the system has been strategically designed to power both lighting and an electric motor critical for poultry operations. The facility, which is located in a geographically isolated area with limited access to the main power grid, now benefits from a self-sustaining and stable energy solution.
The bi-facial solar panels and hybrid setup are also seen as a model for other off-grid communities in Iloilo and beyond. By harnessing renewable energy, the project supports not only rural development but also contributes to broader environmental sustainability goals.
The initiative reflects a commitment to innovation in agriculture and rural electrification, paving the way for more inclusive, energy-resilient farming communities in Northern Iloilo.
Solar Shines Bright in Estancia: New Residential Project Reduces Energy Costs and Boosts Sustainability
June 13, 2025
A newly completed solar energy project in Estancia, Iloilo is lighting the way for sustainable living and cost-efficient power use in the region. The project features a 3.1-kilowatt (kW) solar photovoltaic (PV) system paired with a 6kW inverter and LiFePO₄ (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery storage, delivering a powerful and environmentally conscious solution to household energy needs.
Installed on a private residence, the system now supplies a significant portion of the household’s daily electricity requirements. With the combination of solar panels and battery storage, the household has seen an average monthly savings of ₱6,000, amounting to an estimated ₱72,000 in annual savings.
The project was designed not only to cut costs but also to contribute to a cleaner, greener environment. By replacing a portion of grid-based electricity—often derived from fossil fuels—with renewable solar energy, the household is expected to reduce its carbon emissions by approximately 1.6 to 2.0 tons per year, based on standard Philippine energy generation metrics.
“This is more than just a cost-saving measure,” said a representative from the installation team. “It’s a step toward energy independence and environmental stewardship.”
The inclusion of a LiFePO₄ battery system allows for efficient storage of excess solar energy generated during the day. This stored power can then be used at night or during grid outages, providing reliable and uninterrupted electricity.
By integrating solar energy with battery storage, the system maximizes the use of renewable energy while reducing dependency on traditional power sources, particularly during peak hours when electricity costs are highest.
This successful implementation serves as a model for other homeowners in the region, demonstrating that clean energy is not only achievable but also economically viable.
Local officials and community members have praised the initiative, with hopes that it will inspire similar projects throughout Iloilo and beyond.
As solar technology becomes increasingly accessible, projects like this one in Estancia point toward a more sustainable and resilient future for Philippine households. With rising electricity costs and the growing threat of climate change, renewable energy solutions are more essential than ever.
