I have a Macbook Pro mid 2012 with Nvidia GT 650M, bootcamp with Windows 10 64 bits version 1709. As soon as a Nvidia driver is installed brightness control does not work and I'm stuck on max brightness. Can Apple please fix this as my model is officially supported? Hi Schmitozen, for me applying the registry above i can go from 0% to 100% without issues (trust me at 100% is very bright!!!).I don't know if it helps you but i have also installed the latest Nvidia drivers from the website for our Nvidia 650M and disabled the adaptive brightness in power control panel in windows 10.

Hi dogimistic, this solution only disables temporarily the proprietary driver, which lets the brightness control work only until windows activates an Nvidia driver within minutes. I prefer to have my screen always at max brightness, but with the full power of the graphics driver. Stefano_85 has a solution that improves the situation, but in my case halves the maximum brightness.

While the brightness controls are added by ASUS, the software brightness controls within the Windows 10 Action Center also do not work, and thus the problem does not lie with the implementation of the physical brightness controls. This appears to be an issue with Windows 10. I don't believe it is strictly an issue with Intel drivers as there are some websites recommending to update nVidia or AMD drivers. I realize this is an old post ... just wanted to advise regarding the software controls not working either.

It's not problem with asus ATK, I have removed asus ATK but brightness control work fine with old intel drivers(without Asus Hotkeys), I think hotkey for britghtnes work using Windows 10 and not ATK. So I think problem with Intel Drivers or Windows 10 1803. I tried to install new drivers(24.20.100.6094) but it's not help.

Brightness adjustment keys have no effect (although they are recognized by the environment), and I can't change the brightness using GUI tools as well. In Windows 10 i had the same problem and after i changed my driver into those for windows 8 i could fix it.

I have exactly the same model of PC and the same problem as you.I don't know how to solve this problem but just boot into windows and change your brightness level as you want, you will see the difference next time when you boot into Ubuntu. but remember not to dim the screen otherwise you have you do this again...

I wonder if you have the latest bios for Asus N56VZ for windows 10. I upgraded from Windows 7 SP1 to Windows 10 and most things work. However, I cannot duplicate/mirror my laptop screen to external monitor even though I have updated Intel Video Driver and NVidia drivers to the latest. Also, there has been some issues where a specific program hangs. I suspect bios but could not find any update for N56VZ at the Asus Support page and I did not wish to flash a windows 8.1 bios as I read that some people got a BSOD with that.

Will these drivers work with any Asus laptop?

I had tried an in place update to Win10 64 bit from Win7 64 bit but would have freezes and lock ups and boot issues, with my ASUS K72JK notebook. It would also take long to boot into.

I chatted with ASUS on line and they said it sounded like a hardware issue, but it was working fine in Windows 7. They repeated that they felt 10 was not supported as they would have updated the drivers.

I had checked the memory with windows memory diagnostics before the clean install and it was clean and the Sea Tools program said my drive was in good health and chkdsk did not find any issues.

I have returned to Windows 7 via the recovery and two days in, not one lock up. I wonder if an update to Win 10 NOW will keep all the needed drivers.

I know that is not due to drivers. It is some service activated randomly (mostly when a mouse is connected via USB). Try to deactivate all non windows drivers and restart. It last almost one month without issues (but sometimes happens again). Then start in troubleshoot mode and mswindows, deactivate services and reactivate again. 17dc91bb1f
