eTwinning project 2024-25
The central theme of the project is the cultural similarities of many European countries and how our senses can demonstrate their common characteristics and the existence of a single European culture. This theme was chosen because Greece Turkey and Cyprus are Mediterranean countries which are adjacent to each other and many common features can be found in their culture their lifestyle their cuisine their music. In this project students will initially deal with the cultural heritage of their place. Each school will promote elements of its culture, not only tangible culture (monuments, buildings, archaeological sites) but also intangible culture (language, customs, traditional handicrafts). Culture is a broader concept and is not limited to important archaeological sites and museums but is also produced in everyday life. The five senses, taste, smell, sight, hearing and touch, will lead the students of each school to highlight the culture of their place, produce culture and communicate it with their partners. Through communication and cooperation, students will learn about different cultures and discover the common characteristics of the cultures of their countries. The five senses can be the bridge that will connect students and teachers of all participating schools to work as a team, get to know and communicate with each other, exchange cultural information, sing, dance, travel and realize that there is more that unites them than what divides them. Engaging in the project will teach children to respect and appreciate the diversity of cultures and societies and to identify the relationships between different societies, nationalities and cultures. At the same time, by making use of New Technologies, they will broaden their knowledge and cultivate digital as well as cognitive and social skills. Finally, the project and its results will be presented to the school and educational community and to the students' parents/guardians.
