Is the conference free?
YES! The conference is free and open to anyone interested in family history or genealogy work.
Do I need to register to attend the conference?
There is not a registration process to attend the conference. All you need to do is show up to the sessions interesting to you.
Can I attend only parts of the conference?
Yes, this conference is very much a "buffet table" of sorts. Take what you need, leave what you don't! We have tried to provide offerings a variety of interests and skill levels.
Are children & youth welcome?
Absolutely! Children are welcome to come with you and teenagers/youth can come with a parent or on their own. We love it when youth get involved in family history work.
Do I need to choose my classes in advance?
There is not currently an option to reserve or choose classes in advance. Classes will be available on a first come, first serve basis on the day of the conference.
What should I bring to the conference?
All you REALLY need to bring is yourself, BUT these are a few suggestions that will help you make the most of your time at Bridging the Generations Family History Conference:
A laptop, tablet, or smartphone
Device charger
FamilySearch login information if you have it (if not, no problem)
Notebook and pen
Names, dates, photographs, or records related to a current research question
A sweater or light jacket
Do I need a FamilySearch account to attend?
You do not need to have one, although many of the classes are tied back to the FamilySearch platform. If you don't have one and are interested in creating a free account, the Friday night class "FamilySearch Made Easy" can help you get set up.
What should I wear?
There is no formal dress code. Please wear comfortable, casual clothing and consider bringing a light sweater, as room temperatures may vary.
Where can I eat lunch?
Lunch is on your own, so if you'd like to go out to eat a list of nearby restaurant suggestions has been provided on the "Schedule of Events" page. If you'd like to bring your own lunch, Founders Park is close by and would be a beautiful spot for a picnic.
