Most, if not all, colleges have a centralized platform that they use for all course-related activities. These platforms include but are not limited to:
Blackboard
Brightspace by D2L

What they're used for:

Viewing assignments, grades, class materials, and professor announcements/updates

Major Requirements Tracking
What it's used for:
Planning out classes to hit all requirements, including general education, major, minor and specializations
Viewing up-to-date information about progress toward graduation
Looking at class history, AP/transfer credits, and GPA
See what-if scenarios if you switch majors or take certain classes

What it's used for:
Viewing available classes for different semesters
Selecting and combining classes to build your schedule for that semester
Filtering classes by specific departments or requirement fulfillment
Comparing multiple schedules side by side
Importing finalized schedules into your college's shopping cart for quick enrollment

Utilize the filters to find classes that will fulfill your requirements!
Plan ahead of your enrollment date and ALWAYS HAVE BACKUPS!
Regularly check for updates on class availability and registration dates
Try out different class combinations and compare them to find the best fit for you
Daily Planning
What it's used for:
Keeping track of important events and deadlines
Writing down tasks to be completed by certain dates
Setting reminders for events and tasks
Creating specific calendars for different areas of life (which can be color-coded!!!!)
Sharing calendars with others for collaboration
A mobile app that allows you to update your schedule on the go

Writing down all important tasks and events I have coming up
Adding notes and links for tasks and events
Tips for Students:
Import your school's academic calendar as soon as you get the syllabus to stay on top of important dates
Turn on notifications for your tasks and events!
Note Taking
What it's used for:
Note-taking for courses, often with ongoing documents for each class
Completing written assignments and papers
Sharing notes with classmates and professor for real-time editions and collaboration
Templates for various types of academic writing
Storing documents in the cloud for easy access and backup
What I use it for:
Formatting and completing written assignments
Collaborating on group assignments
Receiving/incorporating feedback through comments and suggestions
Tips for Students:
Used shared Google Docs for efficient group collaboration and tracking contributions with the "History" tool
Use the commenting or "Suggesting" feature to provide/receive feedback
Note Taking
What it's used for:
Creating multiple workspaces for different courses, projects and assignments
Managing project timelines/milestone and organizing tasks/projects with table views and project boards
Setting up databases for research, resources and data management
Integrating various media (text, links, images, files, videos, code, etc.) into documents
Using templates for different needs
What I use it for:
Note-taking and keeping lecture notes super organized and visually appealing
Gathering/organizing resources for work and laboratories
Tips for Students:
Tailor your workspace layouts to fit your workflow and preferences
Sync Google Calendar with Notion to track deadlines
Use the various keyboard shortcuts and different media in your notes
*This is a more complex application to use. I personally prefer this to other note-taking options, but you use what you are comfortable with!
Studying
What it's used for:
Creating digital flashcards
Organizing flashcards into sets for different subjects and classes
Sharing flashcard sets with classmates for collaborative studying
Accessing millions of flashcard sets made by other users covering a wide range of subjects
Tracking progress and identifying areas that need more focus
What I use it for:
Making flashcards for all of my major course exams, midterms and finals
Sharing flashcards with other students
Tips for Students:
Start studying for your exams AT LEAST a week ahead of time!
Try different study modes to find what works best for you and to make your studying more fun and creative
When using the "Flashcards" feature for your set, click "Options" and turn on "Card Sorting" so you know which terms you need to study more and which ones you already know
Use images and audio to enhance your flashcaards and make them more memorable
