Just an hour away from pumpkin paradise, each field trip includes story/educational time, a kiddy scoop of ice-cream, and a tractor-drawn wagon ride to the field to pick their own pumpkin. As they travel to the field, their guide will educate them about other fruits and vegetables that we grow here as well as introduce them to new technology that we use on the farm!
Every Fall, on the second weekend of November, Southern Campaign 1780 hosts hundreds of 18th century merchants, demonstrators, and military reenactors who gather at The Meeting Place in Kershaw, SC for the annual Battle of Camden Reenactment Weekend. The kickoff for the weekend is the Liberty Live Education Day.
During our Friday event, area students, parents, & teachers spend the morning engaging in various aspects of colonial and military life to become better connected with individuals and events that played vital roles during our fight for independence.
Liberty Live encourages you to walk in the footsteps of our ancestors by immersing yourself in the lives and daily activities of colonial backcountry inhabitants, as well as militia, Continental, and British soldiers. Through exploring the lives of indigenous, immigrant, enslaved, and indentured populations and engaging with different members of the colonial populace, you will consider their intrinsic and extrinsic reasons for either remaining loyal to the British Crown or supporting the cause of becoming a free and independent nation.
In the spring Dorr Farms offer a You- Pick Strawberry Patch, Petting Zoo, Games, Photo Ops, and an educational session. Students learn the importance of pollinators and how strawberries grow.
Children explore the world of aviation by experiencing airplanes up close and learning from pilots and ground crew at our local airport.
Sometimes students are surprised by exciting visitors. You never know who might show up to say hello!
Families meet up for a fun spring or fall nature hunt where kids learn about local plants, fungi and animals.
