Adjusting to College Life:
Seniors at MAMS
Co-Editor & Senior Staff Writer Riley Harn '24
The senior class of Mass Academy has officially transitioned from high school classes to college classes and are beginning to settle in. With A-term completed, the Class of 2024 has found its groove within the lecture halls of WPI. However, there were some changes from being at Mass Academy.
For starters: the size. While WPI may not be a large institution compared to other universities, compared to the two halls of Mass Academy, there is quite the difference. Moving between buildings, climbing floors, and exploring mazes of hallways, are all new experiences.
Most of the seniors have appreciated the freedom and responsibility that comes with senior year at Mass Academy. According to Vaishnavi ‘24, “I think I liked the flexible schedule… and the autonomy that WPI has given us."
Vai, as a member of our student government, could not fail to mention that our class can enjoy our "senior privileges while still staying connected to mams through events."
The transition, despite being in a different set of buildings and classes, has not broken up the senior class. There have been many events through Mass Academy at which seniors have connected. A table in the campus center has become a hub for most Mass Academy seniors as well.
For some, the transition to WPI wasn’t much of a transition at all. A select few students who had taken calculus at WPI last year found the transition to be far less dramatic. According to Isabella ‘24, “...because I did calculus junior year, the transition was really seamless,” mentioning that she “knew where the buildings were and the pace of a WPI class already."
Overall, the class of 2024 has found new challenges and experiences at WPI as they navigate their final year of Mass Academy.
