Part of the Georgetown program, which is designed to support a student's pursuit of the ICF ACC and PCC certifications (as an approved ICF Level 2 training program) - giving us recognized credibility as professional coaches, requires us to coach three clients for 10 hours each over a 4-5 month period.
Honestly, this task was daunting at first… as a budding coach, I am now responsible for supporting three professionals on their journey’s to become better leaders…!?!? Really!?!?!
In addition, we needed to seek out our own clients… how do I do that? My circles, though full of many great people, did not have folks that wanted me to help guide them on their leadership journey… so what do I do?
One of the great elements of the Georgetown cohorts is the caliber of people it attracts. As soon as we were given the green light to begin aligning clients, folks across our cohort began offering input, suggestions and referrals to help each other out! I felt incredibly honored to be entrusted with connections of my cohort members. I was lucky enough to land one of my clients through a connection to one of my classmates! Thank you, Caitlin!
But I needed two more… now what? My extended network to the rescue! A fellow veteran turned leadership coach and entrepreneur whom I had the great privilege meeting through volunteer work that we supported together, came through big time for me! This amazing individual (now executive coach for a big time consulting firm) trusted me enough to put me in touch with a couple of other amazing individuals from her inner circle. I am eternally grateful for you, Bonita!
There we go… three incredible professionals willing to set out, with me, on a journey to better themselves as leaders!
Exciting! And… scary! Let’s embrace it… time to jump in!
Stay true.
